Record Turnout for 2017 Wings Awards Banquet

The Wings of Steel held their annual end of year banquet at the Democrat club once again and we had a record turnout of 73 people in attendance. Speculation has it that because Chrissie Mauger was supplying the main menu might have been one of the reasons. Founder and President Tom Brake greeted the crowd and began by speaking about our biggest fund raiser, the annual golf outing, which just celebrated its 10th Anniversary!

To all our Sled Hockey supporters

As we spoke about at this year’s 10th annual Wings of Steel golf outing, there is now a place for our kids to keep playing Sled Hockey once they age out of the youth program. This team is called the Flyers Adult sled hockey team, and like the youth team they need help with costs. So, I am starting a golf outing to help support these young adults. Since this is in the infant stage and I am not sure the response I will get, not everything will be the same as the Wings. The date is Friday, October 6th at the Ramblewood CC, and we have enclosed the registration form, which you can send back via mail or to my email address:

10th Annual Golf Outing a Rousing Success

On Friday April 28th 2017, at Ron Jaworski’s Ramblewood Country Club, a record number 230 golfers hit the links in support of America’s favorite youth sled hockey team the Wings of Steel. With great weather and an enthusiastic crowd on hand the day could not have started any better. Once golf was finished 306 people gathered for dinner and cocktails, another record crowd for the evening. With our annual emcee Brian Startare handling the ceremony he once again “energetically encouraged” people to spend more money as part of this fundraising effort.
